Approach

SIMTWIST (Simulating Tourism Water Consumption with Stakeholders) is a transdisciplinary research project, combining analysis of regional climate scenarios, hydrological modelling,  statistical analysis, hydrosocial cycle analysis, participatory & collaborative modelling, and agent-based modelling to integrate hydrological, social and behavioural issues and foster social learning.

SIMTWIST has a strong stakeholder involvement. Together with relevant stakeholders of the tourist sector, researchers within the project will carry out innovative approaches such as participatory modelling, which includes role-game playing, and hydro-social cycle analysis. Both approaches consider the stakeholders as a crucial aspect of the research.
